Look At What I (We) Did!!!

June 4th, 2008

So admittedly I haven’t posted in a while, but it’s mainly because I have been busy at work… But here is the result! A team of co-workers and I have been working on a totally customizable widget for MTV and here is the first of such deployed live to the MTV servers!

MTV Summer Movies

Hopefully you’ll be seeing a lot of these on the web over the next little while!!

EDIT: While this widget may not seem THAT darned impressive, there are many different things that the people at MTV can add to this, including other types of lists, photo gallery flipbooks, countdown timers, video feeds, search functionality, polling and more… it really is quite the nifty application!

This Looks Like a Good Movie…

May 2nd, 2008

For my first post in about a month I was going to go on a tirade, tearing apart the Blue Jays and their lackluster performance of late, but instead I found a trailer for a movie that looks hilarious and figured I would share that as it is much more uplifting. It’s at Sundance so I don’t know if it will ever get a big release, but enjoy…

DAMMIT! It won’t embed… go here to watch the trailer.

Having Some Trouble…

April 14th, 2008

So I am having some trouble understanding the 2008 Blue Jays… in the last 3 series we have swept the defending champs at home, been swept by a very young Oakland team again at home, then swept a Texas team on the road in a stadium where we never, ever play well…

BJ Ryan is back with the big club and got his first save of the season, and first in nearly a year, in a nail biter with the Rangers. He gave up a leadoff triple but settled down to get the next 3 batters, including Milton Bradley who we all remember took Ryan deep in extras when he was an A a couple seasons ago. I was somewhat concerned with him not striking anybody out, but like I was told by a friend, it’s tough to throw that slider in the dirt when there’s a runner on 3rd in a one run affair…

All in all, I’m happy that we’re heading into Baltimore at the start of the season with a tie for the division lead. The O’s are not as good as their record indicates, in my mind anyways, and we should have little trouble taking these games from them with McGowan and Marcum scheduled to take to the bump in the two-game series. Marcum has been absolutely nails himself this season and I still think McGowan has the best stuff on the team, so we’re looking pretty.

Now we need two things to happen: first, Rolen needs to come back. Inglett has been a pleasant surprise these last few games but with Rolen, our lineup gets another great bat, great D and a no-nonsense guy who won’t let the Jays play down to certain teams. Lastly, we need to get Alex Rios going. He’s playing good ball, don’t get me wrong, but he needs to show a little more pop out of his bat, once he starts hitting dingers, the Jays will be tough to beat.

And kudos to the Jays for running a lot more and stealing some bases! It’s definitely working. Speaking of running, I’m going to follow their lead and get outta here…

Cheers!

Same Old Jays

April 10th, 2008

In my last post I talked about how the Jays look to have changed this season. How they’re going to grab the bull by the horns and take the AL by storm… unfortunately my assessment was a bit premature and well… as you can see in the graphic above, the Jays look to be the same as ever, just a team that gets up for the big time teams, like the Sox and Yanks and play less than mediocre (craptastic efforts) versus the mediocre teams in the league…

And seriously, four runs in the ninth inning (as highlighted)? I don’t know what was worth highlighting more, that or the 0 - 2 record and ERA over 10 of our temporary “closer”. Can’t wait to have you back BJ…

I Like ‘Dat!!!

April 7th, 2008

How about those Blue Jays?

Sure the Sox are “tired” or whatever they want to say… but good god it feels great to get a sweep in the second series of the season, first at home, against the mighty Red Sox.

Normally the Jays will win the first two games of a series and totally just shit the bed for the last game when they could have, nay, should have swept…

But no, this year, something is different… I don’t quite know what it is, but we’re playing great without Scott Rolen and BJ Ryan… when they come back… American League… look out…

… And We’re On Our Way

April 3rd, 2008

After Tuesday nights loss, I (expectedly) trashed the Jays, namely Gibbons, Ricciardi, Thomas, Eckstein, Wells and of course tore into the Yankees.

Anyway, we won last night, pulling us to .500 on the season thanks to a great starting performance by AJ Burnett, timely hitting, and a shaky, albeit, expected performance from Jeremy Accardo.

The race to the playoffs begins NOW. Hopefully the Jays will stay healthy, Vernon will continue to see the ball well, Overbay will hit the ball hard and the Jays staff will continue to dominate. I can’t wait to see how the season unfolds! Let’s play ball!!!

Beautiful Day For Baseball!!

March 31st, 2008

The day has come folks! Today the Toronto Blue Jays kick off what is looking to be like a promising 2008 season. We’ve lost a few guys already to injury, but aside from Janssen, they will be back soon.

Today at 1:05 EST the Jays will take the field in the final home opener against the Yankee’s in their storied stadium. The game is being broadcast all over Canada on Roger’s and in the USA on ESPN. It would be great to see the guys get off to a quick start and grab control of the division early, but we’ll have to see how it plays out.

Overall the Jays should like their chances. They have (possibly) the best rotation in the AL if not all of baseball, one of the strongest bullpens, great defense and what should be a great offense. I’ll lay it out on the table right now, if the Jays can stay healthy and guys like Wells and Overbay can smack the ball around like they did in 2006, the Jays WILL make the playoffs.

Here’s to a great season!

OK Blue Jays, let’s play ball!!

Youtube is a Beauty!

Every now and then I am reminded of why I love youtube so much. If I had a creative bone in my body I would LOVE to be able to think up something like this!

WE’RE ALL DOOMED!!!

March 17th, 2008

Whoever is responsible for this deserves to be placed in a burlap sack and beaten until his or her death… Obviously the monkeys are now primed for total world domination… so help me god if they get their hands on the nukes…

I, for one, embrace and welcome our new monkey leaders and want to reaffirm to them that ‘Planet of the Apes’ (either version) was the best movie ever, Curious George taught me more life lessons than my parents and that surely, one of these days, one of the million of their kind will write the great American novel…

Hail to our chimp lords!
